Girls' football has been played in Chester-le-Street since season 1999-2000. The popularity of girls' football has increased since then and a competitive competition over five weeks, after Easter, determines which school in crowned champions. In 2018, the format of the league was changed to allow more matches, with 3 weeks of league football being played before and after the winter.
